Yvette with a beautiful dollie caught on a spanyid maniac
With a good run of weather over the festive season, we managed to get many Noosa fishing trips in over the past month or so, the 5 and 7hr trips to the local reefs did produce some good catches however the bottom fishing was a little quiet which is normal for this time of year, but we had some fantastic days on the pelagic species with great numbers of mahi mahi (dolphin fish), tuna, mackerel and cobia being caught. The dolphin fish are an amazing sight, they have been appearing out of nowhere under the boat and in most cases we have been sight casting these fish and actually watching the hookup! Great fun.
A couple of very successful 9hr charters took us up to the waters off double island point, where the fishing was firing with great numbers of reef fish including Snapper, moses perch, hussar, pearl perch, sweetlip, maori and goldspot cod, coral cod, coral bream, goldspot wrasse, venus tuskfish, goldband snapper and amberjack to 15kg. Along with some spectacular aerial shows from mahi mahi to 12kg, and the powerful runs of tuna, mackerel and wahoo (to 12kg…so far for 2014).
The fishing will only get better over the coming months and we look forward to getting you into the action.
Hope to see you soon.
